The Bancorp, Inc. launched Finetics on October 7, 2026, a bank-led embedded finance offer from its subsidiary The Bancorp Bank, N.A. Nonbank companies can add instant payouts, prepaid cards, digital wallets and built-in financial tools to their own apps. The bank either runs the program end to end or lets the client embed its APIs, so a platform can work with the bank directly instead of assembling a separate middleware layer.
What The Bancorp announced
The company described Finetics as its embedded finance solution, built on the experience of its Program Sponsorship and Payment Services businesses. According to the October 7 release:
- Integration hub. A central technology integration hub lets a client take a prebuilt configuration for faster deployment or pick modules for the experience it wants.
- Two operating models. The Bancorp can manage the program end to end, or support clients that embed its application programming interfaces (APIs).
- First products. Initial capabilities are instant payouts, prepaid cards, digital wallets and built-in financial tools.
- Support. A dedicated partner team handles implementation and ongoing program management.
- Target clients. Gig and workforce products, marketplace and payroll platforms, business-to-business disbursement providers and other digital businesses.
The Finetics product page adds that the bank centralizes the integrations a fintech would otherwise manage separately with a bank and third parties such as KYC/KYB, fraud and processor vendors, and that its webhooks send real-time alerts for transaction monitoring.
“By applying our fintech experience and established scale to embedded finance, we are positioning The Bancorp for the next phase of technology-driven banking transformation,” said Ryan Harris, EVP and Head of Fintech Solutions, who tied the launch to APEX 2030, the company’s long-term strategic plan.
The scale behind it

| Measure | Company figure | Source the company cites |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. prepaid card issuers | No. 1 | Nilson Report, May 2026 |
| U.S. debit card issuers | 6th largest | Nilson Report, April 2026 |
| Active accounts | 50M+ | Company, year-end 2025 |
What it changes for platforms
In the usual what is banking as a service model, a sponsor bank holds the charter, a technology platform sits in the middle, and the brand faces the customer. Finetics puts the program management and the integration layer inside the bank. For a payroll or marketplace platform, the bank that holds the charter also supplies the vendor connections and, on its product page, ongoing operational and compliance oversight. The point to weigh is flexibility: the client chooses among the modules and providers the bank has already connected to its hub.
The product mix points at payouts first. Instant pay at the end of a shift, branded prepaid cards for unbanked workers and single-use virtual cards for insurance claims are the use cases the bank lists on its product page. Teams comparing options can set Finetics against the providers in our list of banking as a service providers and the baas platform comparison.
What to watch
- Which modules follow the initial four capabilities, and whether lending joins them, given the bank’s Fintech Lending business.
- How the bank-run model handles program ownership and exit terms, the points our guide on how to choose a sponsor bank covers.
- Whether other sponsor banks package their programs the same way.
