Twisp

A cloud ledger and payment processor company whose Core Ledger keeps settled, pending and encumbered balances.

Twisp sells a Core Ledger and processors built on it. The ledger records journals, accounts, entries and transactions; writes happen only through transactions, and each posting creates at least two entries. Balances are layered: a settled layer, a pending layer for holds and authorized transactions, and an encumbrance layer for expected transactions, with available balance calculated from them. Twisp also lists time-travel queries for any past balance, hash chains and Merkle proofs for audit trails, programmable transaction codes, velocity controls and interactive transactions.

On top of the ledger, Twisp offers an ACH processor that generates NACHA files and handles returns and corrections across several banks, and a card processor in beta for authorization, clearing, settlement and disputes. It says the ledger works with any partner or bank, or standalone, so a program can switch banks or processors without losing history. Twisp states pay-per-use pricing with no minimum commitments.
