Paddle
A merchant of record for software and digital product companies, selling to their buyers in its own name.
Paddle sells as the merchant of record for SaaS and digital product businesses: it takes the payment, runs checkout and subscription billing, calculates and remits sales tax and VAT, screens fraud and handles chargebacks and buyer support. Its developer documentation says Paddle handles tax calculation and remittance in more than 200 countries on the seller’s behalf. The company behind the site is Paddle.com Market Limited.
Paddle Billing is the current product, with a REST API, webhooks, the Paddle.js frontend library and SDKs for PHP, Node.js, Go and Python. Businesses that signed up after August 8, 2023 use Paddle Billing; the older Paddle Classic takes no new sign-ups. Paddle publishes its price: 5% + 50¢ per checkout transaction, with custom pricing for high volumes and for products under $10.
